Costume Supercenter Review

Playing dress-up is a huge activity that occurs in my household. I am always looking for great sites and places to find costumes for Haley and Amberly. They are always wanting to dress up and be different characters.

I found the perfect place to find costumes! Costume Supercenter has so many different costumes and items to choose from! I had the great pleasure to pick one costume from this site.

I decided to look in the girls costumes since my girls love dressing up! They had SO many great costumes but I ended up choosing the Little Mermaid costume!
I really liked this mermaid costume because it had looked like Haley had fins. She LOVED it! It is really hard to find a mermaid costumes that really look like fins at the bottom. I was very excited when I found this costume!

Costume Supercenter is the place to go when looking for any costume for any occasion. With Halloween coming up in a few months, this would be the perfect time to scope out the Halloween costumes!
Not only is selection a great aspect of this site, but the costumes are very affordable. Being affordable, does not make the costumes cheaply made. I was very pleased at how well the costume was made! I know this will last a long time with my children!

Creation By Design: Xander Nash Series Review & Giveaway

I love finding children's books that teach children about stories from the Bible. I also like books that make it these stories fun and exciting for children.

I was sent some books from Creation by Design Xander Nash series. I had to read these books to Haley and Amberly. They really liked hearing about all the adventures.

Follow along as young explorer Xander Nash and his dog, Mitts, travel through the stories of the Bible, meeting biblical heroes.

Each book in the series uses the CGI images that your kids are seeing in movies, computer games and video games.

I really enjoyed that these books are perfect for all children. But these are really good for young boys ages 6-8 for whom it is so hard to find good Biblical based products.

Haley really enjoyed the vivid pictures throughout the books. She would stop me from reading and point out things about the pictures. Amberly loved the dog, Mitts. It tickled me because she would start acting like a dog name Mitts. It was cute watching her. I really liked that they was mimicking such good characters.

Each book was about a different adventure so it was something new that the girls were learning about. I find it hard to find good children books that teaches about different Bible stories. The Xander Nash series is a perfect way to get your child interested in the stories throughout the bible!

These books are also priced as a pretty descent price of $6.99 per book. ~What a deal~

Going Green: Planet's People iQ Cleaner Review

I was really excited when I was offered to review a great "smart cleaner". iQ is an innovative line of household cleaners that allows users to reduce plastic waste by 80 percent through its patented iQ REfill technology. I really like the fact that you use water and the little refill packs. It is easy to do and reduces so much waste! You just reuse the bottle over and over! The refill packs are all non-toxic cleaning concentrate into a small recyclable cartridge.

To make a bottle cleaner, consumers just fill the re-usable iQ bottle with their own tap water and drop in the no mess REfill cartridge. It is made from plant  based and ecologically sustainable ingredients and features three non-toxic, family friendly cleaning solutions:
  • iQ's All-Purpose Cleaner
  • iQ's Glass Cleaner
  • iQ's Bathroom Cleaner
The first thing you do is put water into the bottle.
Then you put the REFill cartridge into the bottle.

Then you put the spray handle into the cartridge. This is what makes the solution come out and mix into the water.
Watch this video to see what it looks like while mixing:
I was sent the bathroom cleaner. I love it! It cleans so well and does not leave that nasty bathroom cleaner smell. It will clean surfaces of ceramic and porcelain tiles, bathroom fixtures, stainless steel, fiberglass, laminate, porcelain and more! It has some great ingredients as well: coconut derived surfactant, sugar-based acid, fragrance, colouring and preservative.

I highly recommend iQ cleaners!

Back to School: TuneUp Utilities Review & Giveaway

Tuneup Utilities is a great way for students to get organized and clean up their PC before the school year starts. The best part is that it is inexpensive alternative to purchasing a new PC.

This software enables Windows 7, XP and Vista users to get their PCs into top shape with a number of new tuning features and enhancements of its trusted optimization tools. TuneUp Utilities is designed to keep PCs running smoothly, extend their lifecycles and provide users with a noticeable boost in speed and performance.
I was given a copy of TuneUp Utilities to try out for myself. I was very pleased with how this has helped my laptop! I usually use Norton to clean up my laptop, but TuneUp Utilities found 100 times more problems that needed to be fix. I was very impressed. It showed things that I could delete, remove and turn off to help my laptop run so much better!

Key features include:
  • Users can turn off unused programs completely to avoid the loss of PC performance. Any services, start-up entries, background processes or scheduled tasks in a program that are turned off will remain inactive until they are needed again.
  • Tuneup's Turbo Mode is 10 times more powerful than before-with a single mouse-click, users can increase PC speed by shutting down more than 70 background processes that slow down Windows 7, XP and Vista.
  • The live Optimization feature is even more focused to speed up the program that a user is working with and prevent background programs from using up too much of the PC's resources.

TuneUp Utilities is available for download directly from TuneUp's website or through TuneUp Corporation's affiliate partners for $49.95. Users of previous software versions can upgrade to the latest one for $29.95.

Two lucky winners will win their very own Key Code of TuneUp's Utilities!

Jennifer's Deals was sent a key code for TuneUp Utilities in exchange for my review and featuring in the Back to School Event. All said opinions are of my own. Jennifer's Deals is responsible for all said opinions. No monetary gain was received. Giveaway will end 8/08 at 12 Midnight. Winners will have 24 hours to respond or new winner will be chosen.

Five Question Friday 7/29 (A Day Late)

.

1. Vow renewal ceremonies-yay or nay?
I don't really care about vow renewals myself. One time is enough for me. LOL. But who knows, it may change in 20 years.
2. What sound/s annoy you the most?
The sound that annoys me the most is the high pitch scream of my children when they are fighting. UGH.
3. If you had to pick, would you have only all boys, or only all girls for kids?
If I had to pick, I would keep it all girls like I have. I would not change having my girls for nothing.
4. Do you believe in alternative medicine?
Depends. I think that in some cases alternative medicine should be used but is not appropriate in all cases.
5. Would you take a family member's children and raise them if they needed it?
Yes, I would. It would be hard for me, since I already have 2 kids but I could not turn my back on my family like that. I would do my best to help the children.

Nielsen-Massey Vanillas Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract Review & Giveaway

Nielsen-Massey produces high-quality flavor extracts that are often found in the kitchens of renowned chefs and bakers, gourmet food shops and fine grocers. Nielsen-Massey products are also all Allergen-Free and certified Kosher and Gluten-Free.

I was sent a bottle of Nielsen-Massey Vanillas Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract to review. I was excited to try this out because it can help flavor any type of meal. I believe I am an alright cook. I like to try out new recipes and I am a huge fan of flavor! Vanilla is one of my favorite flavors so I was really excited when I learned that vanilla was the flavor that was going to be sent to me. Now, I must admit that I have never used any type of extract before so I was a little bit nervous on how to use it correctly.

The world's finest and most consistent vanilla comes from Madagascar. Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla from Nielsen-Massey has a creamy, sweet, velvety flavor that is perfectly suited for a range of products from baked goods to ice creams, salad dressings to barbecue sauces. Madagascar Bourbon vanilla does not have anything to do with the American whiskey of the same name, but is rather named for the Bourbon Islands off the coast of Africa. Madagascar supplies more than 60% of the world's vanilla.

I was supplied with a few recipes so I could try this out. I decided to try the Vanilla Apple Pudding.

Here is the recipe:

Vanilla Apple Pudding

½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
2 teaspoons Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract
2 eggs
2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon
4 cups coarsely chopped cored peeled apples
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
½ cup firmly packed dark brown sugar

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 9x13-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Cream the butter, granulated sugar and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl using an electric mixer. Add the eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Beat until the batter is fluffy. Add the flour, baking soda and cinnamon and mix well; the dough will be crumbly.

Add the apples and walnuts and mix just until incorporated. Press over the bottom of the prepared pan. Sprinkle the brown sugar over the top and press into the dough mixture. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Serve warm. Garnish with a dollop of Nielsen-Massey’s Signature Whipped Cream.

Serves 15

One lucky winner is going to win their very own bottle of Nielsen-Massey Vanillas Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract!

KY Intimacy Experiment Day 5

Day 5: Fun and Games

I learned on day 4 that too much comfort is a bad thing for relationships. But the main thing that we learned from day 5 activities is that being secure in our relationship can also be a benefit. If you are secure in your relationship, then you will be more than likely up to trying new things and not feel embarrassed.

Novelty can help boost a couple's relationship. Nonsexual activities can help couples enjoy higher quality relationships.

Day activity:
Choose an activity that you've never done together before. I was very excited about this! We went out and shot pool together. We had never done this before and we use to play pool when we was younger and loved it so I knew we would have fun.

The night activity was jammed packed with fun! We got to play a card game. All we needed was deck of cards, a pack of blank index cards, and two pens.

Then you take the stack of blank index cards and split them between yourself and your partner. Then take your pile and again split it in two. On half of your index cards write down the most sensitive body parts and hot spots. For example, your right breast, the hollow of your neck...On the other half, write down a method of touch that makes you weak. For example, a closed mouth kiss, or a firm rub. When you are both done, put all your cards together in the center of the coffee table, with the body parts in one pile, and the methods of touch in the other.

Then, you start playing some poker. The winner will choose a card from the top of the body part pile and a card from the method of touch. The loser has to do what the winner chooses!

I must admit it was A LOT of fun.

10 Tips to Get YOUR Child to Eat Veggies

If your children are anything like mine, eating vegetables are a huge problem. They simply think veggies are the worst food on the planet! It has been a constant battle to get my children to eat their veggies. .

But, I have came up with a list of 10 tips on how to get my children to eat those veggies! With these simple tips, war with your children and veggies can come to an end!

  1. Disguise those veggies. I have made little animals with vegetables. For instance, make a carrot into a chicken. I even saw a cute "craft" project where a mother made an hard boiled egg, cheese, and some other veggies into a mouse and her children loved it!
  2. Have a variety available. When I serve my children vegetables, I have atleast 4 different types available for them to eat. They always eat atleast one of the four.
  3. Eat with them. If they see you eating a carrot, apple or whatever then more than likely they will eat it too.
  4. Don't let them know they are eating vegetables. Make a meal and add some vegetables into the meal...Then don't tell them!
  5. Make snacks time to vegetable time. If you substitute those snacks that you know are not good for your children with vegetables then your children can get use to being served vegetables.
  6. Always make sure to serve a vegetable with lunch and dinner. This way they will get use to eating vegetables with the main meals.
  7. Make eating vegetables fun for them. One time I put on a play with a carrot and apple and they loved  it.
  8. Let your children pick out vegetables they would like to try at the grocery store. If Haley and Amberly pick out a vegetable themselves they will eat it.
  9. Let your children help prepare vegetables to eat. I let Haley help peel apples. I let Amberly help prepare vegetable trays.
  10. Be patient. It does take time for kids to get use to the taste of vegetables. It can take a long time to get your child to eat a certain kind of vegetable. It could simply be because they are going through a "I can't eat anything green" phase.
It can be difficult to get your children to eat their veggies, but it is possible. If you sit back and remember how you felt when you was forced to eat your vegetables when you was younger, you will remember you dreaded it. Making it fun for your children will ensure that they will want to eat vegetables!

Haley's Sense of Style

Haley is starting to get into picking out her own clothes and telling me what she wants to wear. She will be six in February and really is becoming a big girl. As you can tell from the picture, she loves to look just right. Her hair can not be out of place. She loves having her hair braided or put up in a pony tail. She loves anything that is pink and with puffy sleeves. She calls puffy sleeves "Feathers." She is becoming more and more aware of what she likes and don't like. Let me tell you, she will let you know if she does not like something!

I have noticed that Haley is into the brighter colors. She wants to be noticed. The outfits have to have something girly. For instance, a butterfly or a flower. Haley also has to match. If she has blue on her shirt, she HAS to have blue on her pants. She also loves it when her finger nails and toe nails match her outfits.

I have also been letting her shop for herself. We have began the process of school shopping. She will be starting Kindergarten this year. This is a huge year for her! So, for this big occasion I have decided to let her pick out her own clothes for school...with my supervision.

So far she has picked pink sparkly shoes, blue, pink & green shirts. She has picked out shirts that have the big puffy sleeves. She wants to dress like a princess. It is really cute to see her personality start to show in her clothes. One of her favorite characters is Aeriel from the Little Mermaid. Anything that has to do with a mermaid she is down for. She also loves short pants and wearing sandals. Her shoes have to have color on them. If they are just a plain color, then she will not wear them.  Haley loves it when I paint her toe nails a bright pink color. She is such a girly girl!

Her outfits have show that she is growing up and wanting to become independent. It has been hard on me as a mother to see my daughter grow and wanting to pick out her own clothes and develop her own sense of style. I am also excited to see how her style is going to change over the years. What will she like when she is 10? 13? 16? Having two little girls, I am in for it with clothes!

VeggieTales! Princess and The Popstar Review & Giveaway

Haley and Amberly was very excited when I told them that they were going to be getting VeggieTales: Princess and The Popstar.

They are huge princess fans, so I knew they would love this movie! And I was right. They watch it every day atleast 3 times a day!

I was very pleased with the story line. It was very cute and had a great message for kids. It was about two girls, from two totally different worlds. Neither were happy with their life. They finally meet each other and decide to switch lives. They both learn how important they are and that their lives were created just for them.

Princess and the Pop Star features plenty of high-energy, family-friendly music, including the new song, “You Never Are,” written and performed by this year’s Dove Award-winning Artist of the Year, Francesca Battistelli. Other fun content includes an all-new silly song called “Astonishing Wigs!”, behind the music interviews with Francesca, and “Princess Poppyseed’s Points for Being Uniquely You.”

Featuring a lesson in “being yourself”—the DVD helps young girls (and kids of all ages) understand that each of us are created unique and special with God-given talents, based on Jeremiah 1:5, which reads, “Before I formed you in your mother’s body, I chose you.  Before you were born, I set you apart to serve me.”

About the story: It's a royal switcheroo! Princess Poppyseed’s life on her family’s farm is far from the glamorous but lonely world of her favorite pop singer Vanna Banana.  On a chance meeting at a playground, Vanna and Princess cross paths and realize that they look almost exactly alike—which leads to the  secret plan where they decide to switch lives!  As each girl realizes that the life they longed for doesn’t fulfill all of their dreams, they learn that the life God gave them is the one for which they were uniquely and lovingly designed.

One lucky winner will win their very own copy of VeggieTales: Princess and the Popstar!

Jennifer's Deals was sent a copy of VeggieTales: Princess and the Popstar for exchange of this review. Jennifer's Deals is responsible for all said opinions. Receiving this product did not alter my opinion. No monetary gain was given.
