Nielsen-Massey Vanillas Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract Review & Giveaway

Nielsen-Massey produces high-quality flavor extracts that are often found in the kitchens of renowned chefs and bakers, gourmet food shops and fine grocers. Nielsen-Massey products are also all Allergen-Free and certified Kosher and Gluten-Free.

I was sent a bottle of Nielsen-Massey Vanillas Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract to review. I was excited to try this out because it can help flavor any type of meal. I believe I am an alright cook. I like to try out new recipes and I am a huge fan of flavor! Vanilla is one of my favorite flavors so I was really excited when I learned that vanilla was the flavor that was going to be sent to me. Now, I must admit that I have never used any type of extract before so I was a little bit nervous on how to use it correctly.

The world's finest and most consistent vanilla comes from Madagascar. Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla from Nielsen-Massey has a creamy, sweet, velvety flavor that is perfectly suited for a range of products from baked goods to ice creams, salad dressings to barbecue sauces. Madagascar Bourbon vanilla does not have anything to do with the American whiskey of the same name, but is rather named for the Bourbon Islands off the coast of Africa. Madagascar supplies more than 60% of the world's vanilla.

I was supplied with a few recipes so I could try this out. I decided to try the Vanilla Apple Pudding.

Here is the recipe:

Vanilla Apple Pudding

½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
2 teaspoons Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract
2 eggs
2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon
4 cups coarsely chopped cored peeled apples
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
½ cup firmly packed dark brown sugar

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 9x13-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Cream the butter, granulated sugar and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl using an electric mixer. Add the eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Beat until the batter is fluffy. Add the flour, baking soda and cinnamon and mix well; the dough will be crumbly.

Add the apples and walnuts and mix just until incorporated. Press over the bottom of the prepared pan. Sprinkle the brown sugar over the top and press into the dough mixture. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Serve warm. Garnish with a dollop of Nielsen-Massey’s Signature Whipped Cream.

Serves 15
