Fun in the Sun: Unilever's Ice Cream Products Review & Giveaway

What is the best part of summer? EATING ICE CREAM!

I had the awesome privilege of trying out Unilever's different ice cream brands. 

• Breyers
• Popsicle
• Klondike

One of my favorite parts of summer is sitting out on the porch and eating some ice cream. It reminds me of my childhood. My sister and I use to get a Popsicle and just sit outside for hours. 

I know get to watch my children do this very thing. Sit outside, enjoying the nice weather and eating a Popsicle. 

Now, I got to try Breyers ice cream. I LOVE that Breyers have so many different flavors to choose from.  My favorite is Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. I also love the taste of Breyers ice cream. It tastes like homemade ice cream. It has that fresh, rich taste. I love it!

I also got to try Popsicles. This one was mainly for my children. I really love the fun flavors that Popsicle offers. I choose the Scribblers for Haley and Amberly. They LOVED them. It was so much fun watching them eat these! They even tried to color with them. Too cute!

Popsicle now has some really cool flavors! Such as the Popsicle Airheads, Banana Mania and Popsicle Jolly Rancher Awesome Twosome. I can't wait to try these out!

The last brand I got to sample was Klondike. Who can forget "What would you do for a Klondike Bar?" I choose the Klondike Double Chocolate Bar. I have to admit this was my favorite out of all three brands. I am a huge chocolate person. I love the taste of the Double Chocolate Bar. It was like heaven to me!

Fun in the Sun: Cardboard Box Fun!

A cardboard box = endless fun for my girls. I never really understood why a box was so fun. Have you ever had that time when your kids rips open a present, slings the actual toy aside and plays with the box?! I have, many times. My girls uses boxes to be castles, and they pretend to be King and Queens. Really cute to watch. One of my favorite times of the summer is sitting back, relaxing and enjoying a nice "drink". ;)

Trisha Sutter from The Bachelorette shares some of her summer tips and tricks! Really interesting to watch! I learned a really cool new drink!

SANGRIA PUNCH
What You Need
1 qt. (4 cups) cold reduced calorie cranberry juice cocktail
1 cup cold orange juice
1 Tbsp. fresh lime juice
3/4 cup COUNTRY TIME Lemonade or Pink Lemonade Flavor Drink Mix
3 cups cold club soda
2 oranges, sliced
2 limes, sliced

Make It
1) MIX first 4 ingredients in large glass or plastic pitcher; stir until mix is dissolved.
2) REFRIGERATE until ready to serve.
3) STIR in club soda and fruit. Serve over ice.

TRISTA'S SIMPLE CRESCENT SANDWICHES
1) Preheat the oven to 375
2) Unroll the crescent rolls
3) Spread a thin layer of poppyseed dressing on each crescent roll
4) Add some turkey to the crescent rolls
5) Add some cheese (Trista uses provolone) to the crescent rolls
6) Roll up the crescent rolls
7) Bake at 375 for 11 minutes

Haley and Amberly's favorite part of summer: Bubbles!

This was AWESOME! It came with so many different wands for them to make bubbles with! They did not know which one to use first!

With such a variety of wands, Haley and Amberly made huge bubbles to really small bubbles. It was a great way to teach them the difference in sizes. Amberly's favorite one was the little "musical" looking one. Sometimes being 3, it can be hard to get a bubble to blow out of the regular ones but she had no problem blowing bubbles out of these ones. It was great!

When I was little, I remember the best part of summer was playing outside and blowing bubbles! I think bubbles are so peaceful and beautiful. It is like blowing all my problems away.

The best part of playing in the sun is playing in the water! A great product was sent to me and my girls to help us play in the water!

I have never seen a product like this before. Let me start off by saying IT IS SO MUCH FUN!!

Haley & Amberly's eyes got so huge when I pulled this out of it's box. They was so ready to get it hooked up to the water hose and start playing! This is a great summer time toy when you don't have a pool. This was awesome because it has been so hot outside and I don't have a pool. (Yea, I know! Boo!!) I had so much fun watching the girls run all around the Ultimate Beach Ball. Hands up in the air, water going everywhere. They had so much fun!

A huge part of going out and having fun in the sun is being out in the sun! But being on in the sun can lead to SUNBURN. Nobody wants to be sunburned!

You have to have a good sunscreen to fully protect you from the sun. Sunscreen is very important in my household. I have two people that will burn so easily. My husband and my youngest daughter, Amberly. If you have seen previous posts, you have seen a picture of my youngest. Fair skinned and bright red hair. 10 minutes out in the sun, she is burnt. So, a beach trip is going to happen this summer. The one thing that gets on my nerves is the time it takes to get all the sand off my children. Once they get wet and step back onto the sand, the sand just cakes up on them. Pain in my butt!

But, I found a great product that makes it super easy to get the sand off! Sand Gone! It really works! I was provided a small bag of sand to use to test this product out. The best part of Sand Gone is that all natural and non-toxic! A great product to use on children!



The first thing I noticed when I opened my container of Sand Gone was the smell. It smells really good. Reminds me of the coconut butter smell. It was easy to apply and afterwards the skin where I tested was super silky and smooth!

Fun in the Sun: What to do this Summer

With summer just around the corner (well, it already FEELS like summer) I need plenty of activities to do with my two little demons girls! So, what fun things can I do during the summer.

Swimming at the pool! Who doesn't love to go swimming? Just remember to put the sunscreen on!

Go to the park. There are several parks in my area. There is even one that has these water things that shoot up in the air. So much fun for the kiddos.

Go to amusement parks. This one is just perfect. I got season passes to Dollywood for me, Haley & Amberly. I have already been 3 times since I got them and I am planning another trip this weekend. There are many amusement parks out there. Which ones are your favorites!

Camping? Well, to be honest I am not much of a camping fan. Ok, I hate camping, but my kids have never been camping. It would be nice to go out to Norris Dam and camp out. But would I survive?!

Go to the zoo. The zoo is so much fun for the kiddos. The love seeing all the animals and this time of the year, usually all the animals are out to see. Try to find out when the free days are. My local zoo has free days every now and then.

Finally, I would consider going on a nature walk. Not hiking, but a nice walk. I am not a huge fan of hiking either. LOL. Too much work!! Yea, yea. I'm lazy. We have a little area called Cades Cove and it is just beautiful up there. It would be nice to let the girls play in the little creek or buy some tubes and go floating down the river.

Fun in the Sun: Grilling

One of my favorite things to do during the summer is grilling! I just love the smell of a smoking grill on a hot summer day. Mouth drooling!! I am so excited because I have been smelling more and more cooking grills!

But, what is the right way to grill? Usually I just slap some meat on the grill, throw some bbq sauce on it and grill! But did you know that there are actual tips for grilling?! Well, guess what?! I'm going to tell you some to get your GRILL ON!

 

• Marinating is a very important aspect of grilling. Marinating tenderizes meat and adds flavor! Use roughly 1 to 2 coups of marinade for every 1 1/2 to 2 pounds of meat. I even marinate other things, such as veggies.


• Make sure there is enough charcoal to extend in a single layer 1 to 2 inches beyond the area of the food on the grill. Douse the charcoal with a small amount of fluid. If you do not have fluid, try using regular salad oil. Wad a sheet of newspaper and pile the coals over it and then douse the coals with the salad oil.


• NEVER barbecue indoors because carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide are given off which causes toxic fumes! O.O


• Now, I like this tip! When grilling with a BBQ pit closed, open a can of beer and place the beer over the hottest part of the fire. The beer will boil and saturate the air inside the pit with water vapor, beer flavors and alcohol! <<Good tip for a GOOD PARTY. HA HA


• Now, this is one tip that I do not do, but should! I will always flip the meat several times but you should only flip the meat only one time.

Since we are discussing grilling, what are your favorite foods to cook out?

Here is one of my favorite recipes to use when cooking out:

Grilled Chicken Pineapple Sliders

Ingredients

• 1 lemon, juiced


• 1 lime, juiced


• 1 tablespoon cider vinegar


• salt and black pepper to taste


• 3 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cut in half


• 6 pineapple rings


• 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce


• 6 Hawaiian bread rolls - split and toasted


• 6 lettuce leaves - rinsed and dried


• 6 red onion slices

Directions

1. Whisk together the lemon juice, lime juice, cider vinegar, salt and pepper in a large glass or ceramic bowl. Add the chicken and toss to evenly coat. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour.


2. Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat, and lightly oil the grate.


3. Remove the chicken from the marinade, and shake off excess. Discard the remaining marinade. Grill the chicken for 5 to 7 minutes each side, or until juices run clear when chicken is pierced with a fork. Grill pineapple for 2 to 3 minutes per side, or until heated through and grill marks appear.


4. Spread 1 teaspoon teriyaki sauce on the bottom half of a toasted roll; next add a lettuce leaf, a piece of chicken, a pineapple round, and an onion slice. Replace the top and repeat with the remaining rolls.

Fun in the Sun Series

Big news! I am planning a trip to the beach next month! So, I decided to start a little series called Fun in the Sun. There are so many things that I have to do in order to get ready for this trip. Where to go, where to stay, what to drive and what to do?! So many options to choose from. I will be going to Florida. I am not sure on the location or where I am going to stay as of just yet. I do know that a jet ski rental is going to happen! I know, how excited are you to hear that? Lol!
Ok, to start off this series I am going to tell you some tips to stay safe in the sun.

 

• Select the perfect sunscreen. Pick the sunscreen with a high SPF. SPF is telling you how long it will protect you from the sun. For instance, SPF 30 will protect you for 300 minutes.


• Apply the sunscreen generously.


• Start ahead of time. If you are going out in the sun, put sunscreen on 20 minutes ahead of time.


• Use more than you think you need. Often, people do not use enough sunscreen.


• Stay hydrated. The last thing anybody would want while on a trip or just being out in the sun is to get dehydrated. No fun at all! Keep water with you!

• Slip on a shirt


• Slap on a sun hat


• Step into some shade
